While some have dedicated their career to Adelaide's (twenty five years and counting!) everyone at Adelaide's is dedicated to making our customers their number one priority. Chief Operating Officer & General Manager
Jerry began his career in the hospitality business. From the start he was actively involved in all aspects of sales and marketing, opening some of Southern California's finer hotels. After being recruited to run a four star hotel in Hawaii he returned to San Diego and opened a European-style Floral & Event Company with the current Creative Director at Adelaide's - Larry Anhorn. They operated this company in Hillcrest for many years and ultimately sold it upon the adoption of his son from Romania. Jerry took over as General Manager for Adelaide's in July of 2011 and was recently promoted to its Chief Operating Officer to run all aspects of the company in August 2012. When he is not at Adelaide's - Jerry enjoys life with his partner, son, three dogs, a cat, two chickens and an aviary full of birds!
Office Manager
Rikki joined Adelaide's shortly after it was purchased by the Newell family. Rikki received her degree in English from UCLA and was quickly taken under the wings of the Controller and CFO of an investment company where she learned the fundamentals of accounting and investments. She didn't stop there and has taken multiple courses in business accounting and human resources working her way towards a MBA with an emphasis in Accounting. (Even though she would love to be a Fashion Designer!) Rikki has been taking our seventy-five year old company into the 21st Century and heads up all aspects of the Accounting and Human Resource departments at Adelaide's. While most of her day is spent upstairs ensuring our financial success and servicing our employees, you can sometimes find her in the store learning how to design or helping in the sales department. When she is not at the store, Rikki likes to spend her time with her boyfriend & kitty exploring new hobbies, reading, and creating memories with her friends and family.
Creative Director
Larry received a degree from Portland State University in Physical Education with a concentration in Fine Arts. While one might argue that these two disciplines might not work together - they would not know Larry! Larry has spent his career between two loves - floral/store design & operations and coaching women's gymnastics. Both of these careers have been about lines, motion, creativity, discipline and looking the best that you can. Larry has prided himself on working for many of San Diego's and Portland's finest floral companies, heading up the homes decor department for a high-end department store, building up his own European floral company, selling it, building up a girls gymnastics team from the ground up and finally joining Adelaide's as its Creative Director. Larry has an amazing sense of humor that you will find evident in many of his arrangements and throughout the displays he is constantly changing within the store. Larry calls everything he does as "whimsical" - we just call it brilliance!
Sales Manager
Nichoël joined the Adelaides family in 2009 shortly after relocating from the Finger Lakes region of New York. Love brought her to San Diego-She sold a thriving small business to join her now husband, a local architect, in sunny SoCal. After years (and years) of shoveling waist high snow in flip flops she realized it was time to give it all up... the snow, not the flip flops!! Having grown up in a greenhouse, florist and events business she was excited to return to her roots and her first loves (sorry hubby) - flowers, plants and the people who love them! Nichoël brings to Adelaide's 25 years of floral, design, events, and plants experience and a slew of other seemingly useless talents we have found ways to delightfully exploit - you should too!
Event Design Manager
Ginny heads up the Event's Design and Sales department. She is constantly in motion between helping event planners and brides pick out the perfect decor and flowers, getting out the word about the "new" Adelaide's, directing the design and setup of events and being a mom to three daughters active in water polo! Ginny joined Adelaide's after building her own successful floral and event company which she ran for many years in the La Jolla area. Ginny is well known for her design eye, quick wit (and to those who truly know her) - her passion for her family.
Operations Manager
Robin doesn't like to tell you much of anything about herself. The reason behind this is that she is busy being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the flower, plant, design and delivery departments. To say she is busy is an understatement. What Robin won't tell you is that she is one of the hardest workers in the industry. Up many times at 4:30 am - she starts her day at the flower market and comes back to the store in time to help ensure that the product she has purchased is designed and out the door for delivery according to the promises made to our customers. Robin is an avid bike rider and can often be seen on the trails around Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside. If you do run into her however - do ask her about her amazingly talented daughter - for that is one subject she will gladly talk about!
